LOOSE ARTICLES
Loose Articles aren't your typical punk band. Living the 9-5 as many of us do, but once it hits beer O’clock, a different animal emerges. They began their musical escapades by aiming (& evidently achieving) to “make music because we wanted to prove a point that women can do it just as well as men. it became the first inspiration, then we realised we’re pretty alright at it so now we’re doing it for us and having a right laugh with it.”

THE RED STAINS
Cooking up a plastic fantastic disco-punk sound from a collage of musical influences, Manchester four-piece The Red Stains embrace the kitsch and the tacky as a power to disrupt the male-dominated music industry. Their sharp and sarcastic lyrics hold a mirror up to domestic everyday life: consumerism, mental illness, public transport, discount supermarkets and being queer.

Liverpool-based punk trio Tits Up are tired of your shit, kicking off the already doomed New Year with their debut EP, ’Greatest Tits.’ With influence from L7, Bikini Kill & The Cramps (but not too much, stop mentioning it, alright?!), Greatest Tits is a sonic tour de force, a punch in the face, the crème de la crème of post-pandemic angst.

SOUNDCHECK SHADOWING & Q+A:
Loose Articles are presenting an alternative touring model with their own headline dates this year.
Giving inclusive, intimate access and entry-level insights into the music industry whilst supporting grassroots venues and northern creatives, the band invite you to join them on their musical journey, and will be sharing the secrets of what it’s really like to be in their shoes.
Aimed at primarily engaging young women (14 - 25) from backgrounds and groups who typically aren't represented in the music industry, the band will illuminate the pathways into the often male-dominated music scene with community outreach locally via the Lancashire Music Hub.
Commenting on the project, the band say: 'Music is such an important way to connect with people and get your voice heard, particularly when it’s in a grass roots music venue where you live. As northern women we have so much important stuff to say and a different point of view to offer. With this tour we really want to build a community with people like us, and show young women (and men) in the north west that the music scene isn't just for boys.'
Part of the funding from Arts Council England will also be used to subsidise overheads for the venues, all of which are independent, operating in under-served touring territories and providing a vital service to their communities, meaning ticket prices can be kept low and accessible.
If you are female, or identify as female, come along to shadow both the band and crew at soundcheck, and ask as many questions as you like afterwards. Your name will be added to the band’s VIP LAFC club, and you and a guardian/friend will be placed on a special VIP guest list that night for the show.
These special VIP tickets are free and will be limited to 20 per venue and available on a first come, first served basis.
Participants will continue to be part of the band’s music industry journey with early invites to tours, the opportunity to join a gig buddy scheme, attendance at special events, and they’ll signpost you to music industry opportunities that are happening locally.
Come down to a show and join the LAFC of strong, like-minded, music-obsessed women!
