James Walsh - Starsailor frontman and solo artist - first found success as the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist with multi-platinum indie-rock band Starsailor.  While known for iconic hits like Good Souls and Alcoholic, James has also carved out a powerful solo career, releasing acclaimed albums including Turning Point (2014), Tiger on the Bridge (2019), and Small Illusions (2021).

James has a prolific back catalogue, and his latest EP ‘Renewal’ offers the trademarks of James’ all-encompassing signature sound - beautifully-crafted songs, tender balladry, gorgeous melodies and candid lyricism which transports the listener into another dimension thanks to his captivating and endearing delivery.

Gomez formed in the late 1990s, quickly gaining attention for their eclectic style, which blended blues, rock, folk, and indie influences. Gomez’s 1998 debut album, Bring It On, was a breakout success, winning the prestigious Mercury Prize and propelling the band to international recognition.

Throughout Gomez's career, Ottewell's soulful voice and introspective lyrics resonated with fans, earning him a dedicated following. His solo career saw him exploring a more stripped-down acoustic sound, showcasing his raw talent and emotive storytelling. Ben is well known for his unmistakable voice and talent for blistering and inspired guitar solos.

And as GQ Magazine once wrote and anyone listening can attest, "[his] voice is not of this world.”

Acid Reign

Thrash Legends Acid Reign are coming back to The Ferret Preston!

Acid Reign

Saturday 20th June 2026

The Ferret, Preston

Doors 7PM

Tickets: http://skiddle.com/e/41998898

Born out of the steel-and-sarcasm heartland of Harrogate, Yorkshire, Acid Reign have spent four decades proving that British thrash metal has a pulse, and a wicked sense of humour.

Formed in 1985 by vocalist Howard "H" Smith, drummer Mark Ramsey Wharton, bassist Ian Gangwer, and guitarist Gary "Gaz" Jennings, the band quickly carved out a reputation as one of the most exciting and irreverent acts on the UK metal circuit. Blending high-speed riffs with satirical, socially conscious lyrics, they brought something distinctly British to a genre largely dominated by American acts.

The band went on to share stages with thrash royalty including Nuclear Assault, Exodus, Flotsam and Jetsam, Dark Angel, and Candlemass, building a devoted fanbase through relentless touring across the UK and Europe.

Their debut album The Fear arrived in 1989, followed by Obnoxious in 1990. Though the shifting tides of the early '90s metal landscape eventually took their toll, Acid Reign played their final show at the iconic London Marquee Club in 1991, bowing out with their heads held high and their mosh pits still raging.

The story didn't end there. In 2015, frontman H rebooted the band with an all-new lineup, declaring it not a reformation but a reboot, with everyone in the band having Acid Reign in their DNA. Since their return, the band has toured extensively across the UK and Europe, earning a fearsome live reputation built on high energy, mass stage diving, and violent pits. Their comeback included a headline slot at Bloodstock that has since become the stuff of legend.

In September 2019, they released The Age of Entitlement via Dissonance Productions, their first full-length album in 29 years, to widespread critical and fan acclaim. Produced by Jayce Lewis, it proved Acid Reign hadn't mellowed with age; if anything, they'd gotten angrier, sharper, and more vital.

Now, with their fourth studio album Daze of the Week set for release on the 15th May 2026, the reign is far from over.

Somehow, 2024 saw the 30th anniversary of the birth of Glasgow's Disco/Punk legends bis, and now they move into their fourth decade of a rollercoaster existence.

A whirlwind first 18 months saw bis go from playing to a handful of curious future fans in Glasgow basements to peak-time TV stardom on Top of the Pops and filling huge tents at festivals across Europe all while still teenagers. While the UK media was in equal parts enamoured and horrified by the unorthodox musical DNA of the band, their knack for a nagging melody, unrelenting energy and wide-eyed politics saw them hit big in Japan, nearly breakthrough in America where they had label support from the Beastie Boys and touring with a diverse range of acts reflecting the disparate range of influences the band had - Foo Fighters, The Cardigans, Bikini Kill and Pavement to name but a few.

Whilst perhaps best known for early Riot-Grrrl influenced hit 'Kandy Pop' or the later slick Techno-Pop of 'Eurodisco', the band are also known worldwide as creators of the original theme to 'The Powerpuff Girls' cartoon.

After 3 albums and countless singles, the band temporarily called it a day in 2003, frustrated by record label struggles. They would reunite occasionally (an Islington Academy sellout in 2007 and a triumphant Primavera in 2012 amongst others) but returned with renewed vigour in 2019 with the 'Slight Disconnects' album and again in 2022 with the Rave-influenced 'Systems Music For Home Defence'.

As part of the 30 year anniversary celebrations, the band performed a stand-out sell-out show at Glasgow's iconic St Luke's which gathered fans from around the globe as well as respect from contemporaries like Mogwai and Franz Ferdinand. With their reputation as a must-see live band gathering pace even now, upcoming bis shows in 2026 will provide a real treat for hardcore fans and newcomers alike.

What do you know about Ruts DC? What do you want to know about Ruts DC? It’s nearly fifty years since the two sevens clashed. In a little over fifty more years, they will clash again.

Back then the Ruts were hot wiring barbed wire guitar, passionate poetry and rhythm weaponry together somewhere in a London that probably does not exist anymore. Splicing heat haze dub thinking to the energy flash of punk, close to the big bang of late twentieth century culture. Open to ideas. Committed to ideals.

In 2025 Ruts DC have moved forward- taking these ideals and updating them to embrace the current cultural mindset. Drums and Bass building the defence wall. Guitar and whatever else lobbed in stun/attack mode. That is Ruts DC. That is all you really need to know.

“Ruts and Ruts DC songs move with a precise muscularity and carry lyrics of eloquent and graceful rage. No two-chord thrash with shouting over the top.”

“Some band’s sound punk. Some look punk. Some even look and sound punk. And some, simply, are punk. The Ruts were early challengers to the misunderstood notion that punk was a somewhat luddite dogma wherein complexity, creative exploration and musical prowess were considered a shameful affectation.’

Go back. Listen to everything. From the very beginning of The Ruts in 1977 to now, with the latest Ruts DC album ‘Counterculture?, the much-anticipated follow-up to 2016’s incendiary ‘Music Must Destroy’ album, both released via their own Sosumi Recordings.

Erotic Secrets of Pompeii play wild, weird apocalyptic lounge music - a twisted amalgamation of angular art rock and transgressive post-punk, transmitted directly from the heart of the forbidden zone. ESOP's music is populated by grotesque imagery and vivid symbolism, drawing from artists across different mediums, such as Terry Gilliam, Salvador Dali, Leonora Carrington, Francis Bacon, William Blake, Robert Anton Wilson and Leigh Bowery.

The band released their debut album, Mondo Maleficum, to wide acclaim in January 2024, followed by their latest album Pitchfork Libra in October 2025 which they are currently touring across the UK and Europe. ESOP's music has received airplay from BBC Radio 6, Radio X & BBC Introducing, and the band have played major festivals such as Boomtown, The Great Escape, Shambala & Bearded Theory, along with supporting Heavy Lungs & Electric Six.

“Album of the week, album of the year, and quite possibly album of the decade” – Louder Than War

Peer Pleasure are one big dysfunctional family, founded as a lockdown project and existing as a groupchat long before a band.

Featuring a collective of members from the south east of Ireland the band mixes elements of Noise, Blues, Garage and Punk music with an unhealthy Cynicism, Absurdist humour, Parish hall level resent and a healthy dose of Bare Knuckle call outs and other video nasties.

ZVILNIK have been around longer than they should have but display evolutionary tenacity by changing form every time they are supposed to die. Currently a two headed beast of strings and beats.

Makers of sci-fi-surf-cabaret-alt-rock. Zvilnik are superconductors of eccentricity, abusers of electricity, wheeler-dealers of the wonderful and weird. It's music for the end times, hysterically firing a water pistol at an incoming asteroid.

DEVVO:

I am Darren Devonshire. Devvo for short.

MC DEVVO for when I'm rapping and shit.

I dun loads of stuff for TV and internet and that.

I like getting mashed out me mind and jail cells.

I had all the awards and then melted them down for chains and that.

Devvo as owt.

"MC Devvo was a precursor to the UK comedy rap market. Before Big Shaq, Roll Safe, Kurupt FM and all manner of YouTube and Instagram comedians, MC Devvo was satirising British life using music and comedy in a way that felt new. Maybe that's why he's had, in viral internet fame terms, an insanely long-lasting career." - VICE

Fury are a Heavy Metal band from the West Midlands, UK. Their love of the old school metal of Iron Maiden and Metallica are clear, but the rich and soulful voice of Julian Jenkins (of Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons) sets the band apart from the rest. Songs with clear purpose and strong visuals will transport you to another time, another reality, or another universe… Fury are known to create passionate and dynamic live shows, able to capture the spirit of music fans all over.

2025 proved to be a monumental year for Wales’s King Kraken. Not only did the band release their second album March of the Gods, but they also played two milestone shows at Stonedead Festival and the Bloodstock Winter Gathering show at KK’s Steel Mill, where they performed alongside legendary bands Venom Inc and Candlemass.

LYTHIUM:

Hailing from Lancashire, Lythium is a powerhouse rock band driven by four seasoned musicians with a shared mission: to craft bold, original music that stands out.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Audioslave, Nothing But Thieves, and Måneskin, their sound blends gritty, meaty riffs with soaring vocals and infectious melodies.

Kasra – Vocals

Jimi – Guitar

Hazel – Bass

Chris – Drums

"When they drop the hammer and hit the gas pedal they rock as hard as anyone, with impressive effects-driven soloing and powerhouse drumming... adding to the Lythium sound." - Craig Wilkinson, RockFlesh

"Meaty and crunchy guitars... combined with soaring and blazing lead vocals that command instant respect and admiration!" - Oli Gonzalez, Ever-Metal

"Lythium show off inspired songwriting and bold playing, enhanced by thoroughly impressive production values that deliver a wonderfully big and warm sound." - Screaming Riffs

///

DR SAVAGE:

Born in the back alleys of Manchester, where the streets flood with groove and rock, Dr Savage came to life as the brain child of Singer songwriter Jeremy Lindemann.
The vision and mission of Dr Savage is to bring back to life the ethos of the 90's funk, Rock'n'roll and Grunge scene, in one very personal recipe, delivering a wild show filled with a colourful devotion to make you shake and dance, then ask for more. Their first single released "That's What I'm gonna Do" embodies the spirit of freedom and adventure displayed in purpose of the band, and so doing, they will embark you on their quest to surpass your own limits and sing their hymns with a blissful delight.

///

TRENCHES:

A riff-heavy grunge rock band resonating out of Preston, Lancashire. Formed in 2019, the band brings together four seasoned musicians from the local rock scene: Bourny (drums), Danny (bass & vocals), Jimi (lead vocals & guitar), and Greg (guitar). Blending the raw energy of Nirvana and Foo Fighters with the heaviness of Alice in Chains, Deftones, and Alter Bridge, Trenches delivers a hard-hitting sound that’s both powerful and melodic. Their music channels the spirit of classic grunge and alt-rock, infused with influences from Clutch, Trivium, Machine Head, and Halestorm.

____

Originating from noisy improvisations and chaotic concoctions recorded in a basement in Cork, Ireland. Crying Loser is a raw byproduct of abrasive, frenzied and hypnotic energy, looking to scratch the miserable itch of life at the bottom of the barrel.

A no-wave quartet comprised of Arthur Pawsey (guitar, vocals), Micheál Fitzgerald (bass), Sam Clague (bass clarinet, flute) and Ruairí de Búrca (drums), Crying Loser released their first EP, Oaf Milk in September 2023, with a vinyl release by Swish Swash Records following in 2024. Following two successful tours across France and multiple shows all over Ireland & UK, Crying Loser’s upcoming full length album The Ick, pushes the limits of the groups’s chaotic and feverish compositions.

Flesh Interface is their latest single, accompanied by a nightmarish video directed by Zoe Greenway. Noisy, energetic and left-field, Flesh Interface combines hypnotic rhythms with outbreaks of frenzied madness. With several features on BBC6 Music from Deb Grant, Amy Lamé and Nathan Shepherd, Flesh Interface begins this next chapter for the group, with their debut album dropping in 2026 with Trapped Animal Records’ new imprint, We Go to 11. Aside from signing with Trapped Animal, Crying Loser have recently been signed to Wipe Out Music’s roster by Matt Baty of Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs for publishing & distribution.

Like a female Danzig meets Alice Cooper, the Austrian band Burnswell deliver dark & fiery Hard Rock & Alternative Punk Metal. With a sound built on hard riffs, melancholic melodies, grooving bass lines, and powerful drums, this Vienna-based group are known for a high‑energy blend of alternative rock, post‑grunge, and emotionally charged melodic elements.

What happens when you throw a nu-metal guitarist, a metalcore vocalist, a groove metal bassist, and a rock drummer (who, yes, also plays the bagpipes) into one band? You get Moonkill.

Blending influences from bands like Linkin Park, Bring Me The Horizon and Muse, Moonkill aren’t trying to fit into one box. They’re building their own sound, something heavy, melodic, and just a little unpredictable.

Parasite Kings unleash immersive metalcore packed with savage riffs, crushing breakdowns and raw, introspective fire, balancing brutality and melody while turning themes of pressure, identity and survival into a full-throttle battle cry.

Vocal pop, rock and dance powerhouse Lydia Reddy is one of the freshest, most original new artists making their mark on the modern-day music scene.

As a vocalist for teenage alt-rock band Sudell Cross, Lydia has already captivated audiences at headline shows, higher all over the North-West and played Main Stage at Darwen Live, England’s biggest free music festival.

Now performing solo, Lydia recently made her festival debut, playing an acclaimed set of original material at After All Festival, Manchester’s biggest grassroots music show.

Wearing the confident indie-rock suit of their heroes Catfish & The Bottlemen, Stereophonics, Sam Fender and more, Double Negative are a young force to be reckoned with as they take their first steps into the music world.

Double Negative's debut single, 'Nights Like These' tells a story of youthful heartbreak and personal reinvention.

Strata bring driving indie / rock n roll / post punk from Blackpool - melodic riffs, punchy basslines and a raw British edge built for sweaty rooms.

Formed in early 2021, The Guest List quickly made a name for themselves in the Manchester music scene with mature lyricism, energetic performances, and an ever-growing online and live fan base. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Cai Alty, lead guitarist Tom Quigley, bassist Sid Wallace, drummer Angus Gilchrist, and rhythm guitarist Leio Hunter.

From the start, The Guest List stood out with their blend of melodic guitar riffs and relatable lyrics, capturing the essence of a modern band while maintaining a fresh and authentic sound. In 2024, tracks London and Loose Tongue significantly boosted the band's presence in the live music scene. Both songs were produced by James Skelly, frontman of The Coral, at Liverpool's Kempston Street Studios. These tracks caught the attention of BBC Radio 6 Music's Chris Hawkins, who featured them as his Track of the Dawn selections on his morning show.

Beyond the studio, The Guest List has built an impressive presence on social media, amassing over 400,000 followers and nearly 8 million likes on TikTok. Their engaging online presence has helped them connect with fans worldwide, while their Spotify audience continues to grow, with tens of thousands of monthly listeners.

The band's rapid rise has seen them share stages with some of indie rock's biggest names, including Two Door Cinema Club, The Wombats, Inhaler, Blossoms, and Seb Lowe. Most recently, they celebrated a major milestone by selling out their first-ever UK headline tour.

2025 saw The Guest List appear at some of the UK's biggest festivals, including NBHD Weekender, Kendal Calling, Truck Festival, Y-Not Festival, Victorious Festival, and more.

With a dedicated fan base and an ever-growing presence in the UK music scene, The Guest List are proving to be one of the most exciting new bands in the country.

Cinematic post-rock visionaries Nordic Giants have just announced a string of UK tour dates to accompany their latest creation, Under Celestial Alignments.

Known for their immersive performances-blending thunderous crescendos, haunting melodies, and striking visual narratives-this tour promises to be an otherworldly experience, unveiling new compositions that explore themes of cosmic cycles, human fragility, and the invisible threads that bind us to the universe and to each other...

Each show will feature the band's signature fusion of emotive instrumentation, multi-layered visuals, and projected short films-crafted to blur the boundaries between concert, cinema, and ritual. This latest tour will celebrate 15 years of Nordic Giants' live performances. Fans can expect an intimate yet monumental experience, as the duo will perform an entire album in full for the very first time.

Each night promises a unique journey, designed not just as a concert but as an invitation-to co-create, to invest in art that transcends the ordinary, and to dive deep into the intensity and fragile beauty of Nordic Giants' sonic universe.

L.O.E’s music tries to capture and reflect triumph, heroism, anguish and struggle throughout society. Not as a political stand, but to hold a mirror up to humanity. Weaving speech and video into live performance to create a cinematic experience of popular culture and a reflection of our times.

The Empire Police return to The Ferret in their hometown of Preston, for their first local show since the release of the Strange New Places EP last autumn.

Noise from the heart of Lancashire. The Empire Police are a four-piece musical powerhouse hailing from Preston.

Since forming in 2015, they have carved their mark within their local scene and beyond, with instantly captivating music and energetic live shows, earning them support slots with the likes of The Sherlocks, Blinders and RATS, and sold out headline shows across the north-west.

With support from:

Dulakes -

Aggressive, melancholic, and always loud, Dulakes diverse track list aims to defy categorisation as it moves from one feeling to the next. Across a steady stream of releases from the beginning of 2025, Dulakes have honed their distinct sound into a lyrically introspective, rhythmically tight, and thumpingly loud style of alternative rock music.

Stormkerb - Emerging from Preston’s underground scene, Stormkerb deliver a raw mix of post-hardcore, post-punk and post-rock. Built on loud guitars, shifting dynamics and a DIY ethos, their live shows hit hard and linger long after the noise fades.

Heading into the latter half of a decade together, Problem Patterns are well-seasoned and only getting weirder. Refusing the notion of softening with age, the band are constantly pushing themselves through their musical output whilst keeping their roots political and feminist.

Known for their lively performances, they have supported the likes of Le Tigre, Bob Vylan and Stiff Little Fingers, with festival appearances including the Park Stage at Glastonbury, 2000Trees and Other Voices.

“A thoroughly great racket” - Steve Lamacq, BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC

“Fuckin’ fantastic!” - Gordon Ramsey

-

Cooking up a plastic fantastic disco-punk sound from a collage of musical influences, Manchester four-piece The Red Stains embrace the kitsch and the tacky as a power to disrupt the male-dominated music industry.

Their sharp and sarcastic lyrics hold a mirror up to domestic everyday life: consumerism, mental illness, public transport, discount supermarkets and being queer.

Forming the Red Stains’ distinctive ready-meal-punk sound are four ingredients: Talie Lauren’s fiery and powerful vocals hang over a backdrop of Sterling Kelly’s gritty, throbbing bass, and newly added into the mix are Robyn Elliott’s drum beats that demand your attention and Liss Connelly’s cosmic glittering synth that ascends into the mix taking the sound to a supersonic level to create the familiar ‘Red Stains’ chaos.

-

Pocketknife are a Welsh/Mancunian melodic post-punk duo blending math-rock energy with hook-driven songwriting. Drawing influence from Biffy Clyro, PJ Harvey, Queens of the Stone Age and Dinosaur Jr., the band are known for intense live performances and have previously shared stages with Lightning Bolt, The Joy Formidable and Melt-Banana. After a hiatus, they’ve recently returned with new music and live shows.

Punchy riffs, sharp hooks, and a love for classic punk attitude define the sound of Litterbug. Emerging from Blackpool, UK, the band blends raw DIY energy with a playful, melodic edge that keeps their songs fast, catchy, and impossible to ignore.

Originally evolving from an alt-indie background, Litterbug gradually leaned harder into punk rock, embracing the spirit of classic ‘77 punk while keeping their own quirky songwriting style.

Sally Pepper is an acoustic pop-punk singer-songwriter based in Blackpool, taking influence from alternative bands like All Time Low, Paramore and Fall Out Boy, as well pop artists like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. She has toured extensively in the UK as both a headline act, and has shared the stage with the likes of fellow songwriters Lucy Spraggan and Grace Petrie.

With her big choruses, heartfelt lyrics and witty onstage chat, Sally always puts on a show which can be enjoyed by fans of any genre.

The Ferret, Preston

Saturday, 21st March 2026

Tickets: £7

///\\\///\\\

CUT (from Italy):

Italians "Cut" play a dark, groove-filled brand of garage noise rock that brings The Fall and The Stooges to mind in equal measure. Every song is a riotous adrenaline-sodden rocker in which Cut leave not one second unfulfilled or unexplored. This is rock music to be savoured and can be described as "John Lee Hooker stuck in a post-punk straitjacket".

PETE BENTHAM & THE DINNERLADIES:

Pete Bentham & The Dinnerladies play primitive rock and roll and sing about things they believe in. They started out in 2008 and have released five full length albums and two vinyl EP’s. They have played hundreds of shows around the UK and Europe and festivals such as Rebellion, Fire In The Mountain and Sound City.

Pageant Mum:

Wear your heart on your sleeve kids! And Pageant Mum do just that! They leave nothing behind with their post hardcore punky angst, driven guitars and feisty truthful lyrical content. When you figure out that this comes from a group of teenagers, Pageant Mum suddenly become your new favourite band, one to follow, one to celebrate and one to champion. Live they are a force of nature, on record their heart is laid bare and the angular twists and turns of Fugazi meet Paramore meet The Bronx resonate throughout.
