The legend himself Paul Quinn, founding member and lead guitarist of Saxon, is coming to Preston with special guests Harrison Young (The Cards) and Adam & The Hellcats!
"Fill your heads with heavy metal thunder!" A battlecry that will be familiar to thousands of Saxon fans right across the globe.
You know Paul Quinn as the original founding guitarist of Saxon, having shaped the soundscape of the “new wave of British heavy metal” since 1979, penning massive riffs for worldwide hits like “Princess of the Night,” “Strong Arm of the Law”, and "Wheels of Steel" to name a few. Now, you can get to know Paul, or “The King” as he’s known in his other band, The Cards, up close and personal as he shares stories about his epic career while performing an intimate night of songs by both Saxon and The Cards, alongside treasured cover songs which have inspired him over the years.
Curating the night and taking on vocal and bass duties, Paul will be joined by singer/multi-instrumentalist Harrison Young, who is no stranger to the stage either, having worked extensively with rock and metal legends Doro Pesch (Warlock), Udo Dirkschneider (Accept), Cesar Zuiderwijk (Golden Earring), and of course Paul Quinn (Saxon), with whom he founded the band The Cards in 2016.
The pair will perform with special guest drummer Adam Feasey who also opens the night with his own band, Adam & The Hellcats.

This Halloween, The Great Pop Culture Revue takes over The Ferret for a night of live music, puppetry, cinema nostalgia, horror favourites and gloriously geeky pop-culture chaos.
Featuring Blues Harvest, bringing their high-energy mix of movie, TV and pop-culture music to the stage, alongside The Puppet Folk Experience, a frog-hosted live show combining puppetry, banjo and some suitably spooky surprises.
Join us for a Halloween party packed with live music, puppetry, pop-culture favourites and music inspired by horror, sci-fi, film and television.
Fancy dress is strongly encouraged, with a costume competition on the night. The winner will receive a £50 Ferret bar tab plus a bundle of Blues Harvest and Puppet Folk merchandise.

Tuff Life Boogie is delighted to present the legendary 90s Californian slacker outfit Swell, supported by Liverpool post-punk cult heroes The Room!
This is a UK exclusive show for Swell, and it is their first British gig for almost 20 years!
SWELL
Formed in San Francisco in 1989, Swell quickly rose to prominence after self-releasing two LPs in the early 90s. Blending lo-fi acoustics, atmospheric textures and understated vocals, Swell created a unique sound, melancholic and propulsive. Their music was praised for its restrained dramatic mood and raw intimacy. Swell were championed by John Peel in the UK, recording a session for the legendary DJ in 1992.
In 1994 Swell signed with Rick Rubin's Def American Records for their '41' LP and with Beggars Banquet for the UK and Europe. The band produced their masterpiece, 'Too Many Days Without Thinking' in 1997, capturing their signature hypnotic rhythms, cinematic arrangements and breezy melodies, creating an underlying tension with explosive dynamics. Swell produced four more excellent albums before coming to the end of their run in 2008.
Swell's singer and main songwriter David Freel died in 2022 and in 2023 original members Sean Kirkpatrick and Tim Adams put the band back together again to play some shows as a tribute to David. They are reuniting again in 2026, teaming up with frontman Johan Dettman for a final trip around Europe.
THE ROOM
In the next century, people will stumble across The Room leader Dave Jackson's prodigious output since 1979 and will be amazed by how his talent did not get the credit that it warranted at the time. Anyone who checks the guy's track record, which also includes Benny Profane, Dust, Dead Cowboys, The Cathedral Mountaineers and The Room in the Wood, will discover that Dave is now responsible for at least a dozen fantastic albums, all of which should be set texts for anyone into literate, melodic indie-pop with great vocals and lyrics.
In late 2021, Dave reconvened with his oldest partner in crime, bass player Becky Stringer, and together they've revived their earliest incarnation as The Room, who previously operated from 1979 to 1985. Championed by John Peel and the music press, and ticking all the right boxes with their spiky, tightly-wound post punk sound, The Room somehow missed out on the commercial success achieved by Merseyside contemporaries Echo and the Bunnymen and Teardrop Explodes, by what can only have been either bad luck or bad management.
Since 2023, The Room, now also including original drummer Clive Thomas, have dropped three magnificent albums, most recently, 'Doom Pop' in September 2026, which the band will showcase at this gig.

The March Violets head to The Ferret as part of a handful of additional dates on their Unnatural History Tour Pt 2, following a successful run of UK shows this summer.
Formed in Leeds in the early '80s and label-mates with The Sisters of Mercy, The March Violets became a fixture of the UK independent charts, reaching the top two with Snake Dance and Deep, and No.1 with Walk Into The Sun.
Their 1984 LP Natural History brought together the band's early recordings and remains a defining document of their original era, featuring tracks including Snake Dance, Religious as Hell and Crow Baby, alongside two John Peel session recordings.
For this tour, The March Violets will perform Natural History in full, alongside other classics, fan favourites and newer material.
The band's original run also included six BBC sessions - three for John Peel - before a major-label deal and an appearance in the 1987 film Some Kind of Wonderful. After splitting in the late '80s, The March Violets eventually reformed and have since toured extensively across the UK, Europe and USA.
Far from simply revisiting their past, the band released the new album Crocodile Promises in 2024 and continue to record new material.

THE ROLLING PEOPLE
Described as “Manchester’s next greatest success” by Northern Exposure Magazine, and with support across the likes of Clash and DORK, The Rolling People have built a formidable reputation on the live circuit.
In 2026, just four years into their career, they headlined Manchester’s O2 Ritz and New Century Hall following the momentum of their EP’s ‘Before It’s Gone’ and ‘Outlier’, cementing their status as hometown favourites with ambitions far beyond the city limits.
Touring alongside Andrew Cushin and supporting The K’s, Embrace, Corella further sharpened their edge, before appearances across UK festivals from The Great Escape, Tramlines and Reading & Leeds.
With ongoing support from BBC Radio 6 (Chris Hawkins) and Radio X (John Kennedy) among others, the band are building a strong momentum into the release of new material.

The Turbans are an international collective whose music draws deeply from Arabic, Balkan, and Turkish traditions, with threads from Eastern Europe and the wider Mediterranean. Built from the intertwining paths and cultural crossings of its widely travelled, highly skilled musicians, The Turbans have grown from humble beginnings into a distinctive force on the global world music scene. Founded in folk but lit by powerful electric guitar lines, their sweeping orchestral layers and ancient oriental rhythms combine to create a psychedelic, transcendental sound.
Their live show is the real driving force: an interstellar, crowd-igniting experience that pulls everyone into the same rhythm. Preston's Electronic Music Open Mic (EMOM) returns to The Ferret this Tuesday, 24th November.

This is an open stage night for electronic and experimental musicians, aimed at giving local artists a supportive space in which to play live and experiment. Open to all forms of electronic/experimental music including: ambient, chiptune, drone, drum & bass, dub, electronica, electropop, experimental hip-hop, field recordings, glitch, house, industrial, looping, noise, soundscape, synthwave, techno, trance & more!
Get out of your home studio or bedroom, and come out to a fun, supportive night with other enthusiastic tech heads, dabblers and music fans. You don’t need to be an established artist with a full repertoire. This is for anyone who wants to try their hand at playing live in a safe, motivating environment.
Computers, digital boxes, DJ controllers, drum machines, gadgets, groove boxes, keyboard synths, loop stations, modular synths, phone apps, samplers, sequencers… and everything in between. All welcome!
Come out and meet other music makers, producers and creative types from all walks of music making. There should be plenty of time to talk gear, production techniques and a whole range of inspiring ideas.
The event will run from roughly 7pm-11.00pm with wiggle room depending on interest.

In order for the event to run smoothly, we ask that you prepare a mono or stereo mix of your setup before handing your outputs over to us; we will not be able to mix your outputs for you in the given time. Vocal mics & mic stands available.
Sorry - no acoustic guitars – unless they are being used to generate soundscapes or some other style of music in keeping with the night (e.g. through pedals, FX units etc.)
Additionally, feel free to bring a USB stick containing visuals you'd like to be projected during your set.

The Fear is what happens when unfinished business refuses to stay buried. Based in the UK, the band features Benj Ashmead (drums), Mick Satiar (vocals), Ad Lucas (guitar), and Adam Smethurst (guitar) — friends who once chased music full-time in various bands, only to walk away when the dream didn’t quite pay off.
They didn’t speak for ten years. In 2024, something shifted. Benj had quietly started writing again after a decade away and a beer with Mick turned into a conversation. The Fear was born — a fresh project fueled by years of experience and renewed drive.
Sonically, they fuse the intensity of metalcore with melodic alt-rock sensibilities — drawing from bands like Linkin Park, Underoath, and Papa Roach, while the vocals carry subtle echoes of Mancunian icons Oasis and The Buzzcocks.
Anti-Clone, the UK-based industrial metal band, are reshaping the genre with a dangerously modern twist. Their latest EP, “Inhuman,” takes listeners on a journey through society’s darkest corners, exposing elite manipulation, shattered faith, and the relentless march of time.

Welsh Awen Rock band 'Holy Coves' return to the tour circuit for their brand new album 'Hiraeth' full band rock tour.
Louder, bolder and ready to take you on the road through their latest creation 'Hiraeth'. This fourth album from the Holy Coves promises to be their most personal yet. Expect big guitars, soaring melodies, raw emotion and powerful live energy that will grab you and leave you wanting more. Ventrelles is a Manchester-based quartet led by singer-songwriter Phil Knox Jr., who initiated the project during his time in Chicago before bringing it to Manchester in 2014. The band’s lineup includes Connor Long on lead guitar, Paul “Winny” Mawhinney on bass, and Gaykord Knott on drums and percussion.
Their music blends the styles of 1980s guitar groups such as Pale Fountains and Echo and the Bunnymen, with influences from The Chameleons and The Jesus and Mary Chain. This fusion results in a distinctive sound characterized by sun-soaked guitars, energetic rhythms, soulful bass lines, and life-affirming vocals.
Yon Mon is the project of new solo music by much loved and former The Shed Project frontman Roy Fletcher. His alias name 'Yon Mon' is taken from an old Northern England saying meaning 'What's he up to?' Singles released so far include 'Warmongers', 'Picture This', and 'Shine On', and a debut album is due for release in July.
Yon Mon's music has been produced by former Jade Assembly musician Danny Hayes, and the album will feature collaborations with legendary Mancunian rapper MC Tunes, who as well as enjoying a successful career in his own right, is known for his work with 808 State and Dust Junkys.

On Saturday 12 December, The Ferret is honoured to host a special all-day live music event celebrating Simon Wright - much-loved musician, friend and longstanding part of The Ferret community.
His friends & bandmates have put together this tribute to Simon, his music and the incredible impact he had on so many people. We hope you'll join us to remember him the way he'd have wanted - surrounded by friends and great live music.
Over the years, Simon played The Ferret stage with many bands including LEFT, The Cities, Ben & The Believers and more. It was here he discovered new music, met lifelong friends, and even met his wife Kate. He was part of the fabric of this venue and of Preston's independent music scene - a brilliant musician, a proper funny character, and one of the genuinely good people who made this community so special.

Elder Emo UK are having their 5th Elder Emo Ball right here at The Ferret! This is the night that kickstarted their crazy world, and seeing as it falls on Boxing Day - they thought they’d go BIG!
Paying tribute to Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish - 'A Tribute to Limp Bizkit' will be performing all the bangers of the band following their incredible run of shows throughout the year including those with UK Tribute Festivals.
Fitting too, seen as the real deal headlined Download Festival this year - It is perfect for those who did not go!
Following suit of Elder Emo UK they thought they would do it a little differently this year and have a pre party to the band - Elder Emo UK founder and owner Lauren Rose Conroy-Clough will provide a warm up DJ set before CHOCOLATE STARFISH, so for us 30+ we can by home by midnight with a Horlicks and several Rennies.

This is an open stage night for electronic and experimental musicians, aimed at giving local artists a supportive space in which to play live and experiment. Open to all forms of electronic/experimental music including: ambient, chiptune, drone, drum & bass, dub, electronica, electropop, experimental hip-hop, field recordings, glitch, house, industrial, looping, noise, soundscape, synthwave, techno, trance & more!
Get out of your home studio or bedroom, and come out to a fun, supportive night with other enthusiastic tech heads, dabblers and music fans. You don’t need to be an established artist with a full repertoire. This is for anyone who wants to try their hand at playing live in a safe, motivating environment.
Computers, digital boxes, DJ controllers, drum machines, gadgets, groove boxes, keyboard synths, loop stations, modular synths, phone apps, samplers, sequencers… and everything in between. All welcome!
Come out and meet other music makers, producers and creative types from all walks of music making. There should be plenty of time to talk gear, production techniques and a whole range of inspiring ideas.
The event will run from roughly 7pm-11.00pm with wiggle room depending on interest.

Founded In 2021, Full Stop quickly played several regional and national gigs, including shows in Bonn and at the prestigious Crash club in Freiburg. In June 2024, Full Stop released their debut EP. Beyond Breaking Borders Together with a blacklight-based stage concept perfectly suited to their EP, they were able to fully realize this vision in the following years, playing around 20 concerts each year and securing their first victories in the band contests at the Doiboch Open Air (Bavaria) and the Wolfweez Open Air.

Despite having only formed in April 2024, Barcelona band Hekate Heads already know exactly what they want to do: high-voltage punk rock that feels inclusive, accessible and instantly catchy, with a bold attitude and no interest in asking for permission.

Multidisciplinarity is an integral part of the creative process of Annie-Claude Deschênes, who continues her perpetual personal quest of uniting music and performance art by bending the pre-established conventions of stage presence.
A key figure in the Montreal independent music scene for twenty years, she made her mark as a frontwoman, singer, musician, songwriter, performer, and visual artist with cult bands Duchess Says and PyPy—bands renowned for their electrifying performances as much as for their artistic sensibility.
Annie-Claude’s exploratory approach to staging and sound design takes a new direction with the genesis of her solo project: the urgency and intensity that characterizes her work remains, but sheer aggression gives way to cool, dystopian disco vibes. Annie-Claude Deschênes explores and reinvents herself under her own name, driven by a constant need to create outside her comfort zone.
Inspired by minimal pop and the pioneers of electronic music, LES MANIÈRES DE TABLE, her first solo album released in 2024, is as danceable and melodic as it is disquieting—proposing to set the table differently by deconstructing the social codes of politeness imposed on us. In April 2025, she released "Main de Fer," a single that showcases a new & unique direction in her artistic approach.

TEMPORARY BODIES
Temporary Bodies is the live project from Preston-based artist Mike Warburton (Barium Network / Utopian Mechanics). Based entirely around live, improvised performance - on-the-spot loops are fed through an array of fx pedals to create layers of sonorous strings and pads, swirling ambient textures and melodies that range from the Baroque to the bleak.
Inspired by the characteristics of artists like Grouper, MJ Guider, Silent Servant and Deaf Center amongst many more, Temporary Bodies also uses hypnotic drum loops, orchestral motifs and sparse vocals to build a dense, cathartic experience that guides the listener through themes of loss and longing into a place of quiet optimism.

YAM - An Open Jam Night
YAM is an open jam night with a focus on inclusive group improvisation, open to singers and players of all levels!
If you're an instrumentalist looking to play with other musicians, or a solo act who'd like to try their songs with a full band. A singer, rapper or spoken word artist - come down and join us.
Don't worry if you've never improvised or jammed before, the goal is to get as many people involved as possible. We'll use every shortcut, standard chord progression and ironic cover version available to get you up on that stage. It's a co-operative game, not a competitive one!
More advanced players, you know we need you too! You might also get the chance to sit in on those collaborations you've been talking about in the beer garden for the last decade or so!
• Chords on the Boards - Standard jamming procedure via the Trusty whiteboard - Chords for an A section, Chords for a B section. Go!
• Random Band Raffle - Names & Instruments go in a hat and we'll pull out a ready-made band for an impromptu performance at various points.

Three masked bassists, a guitarist who can't play guitar, a singing drummer and a pig with cleavers. The aesthetic of the masks, a sort of Lancashire Slipknot where the cheapness adds to the distress – and the effect – and the Hammer house is always next door, is the perfect vehicle to display themselves to the world. Deadly serious and seriously theatrical, it gives them the latitude to do and say and create whatever they like. This freedom is wonderfully exploited; the music never settles, never sits still, a hyperactive child exploring corners ignored by others and always finding treasure buried in the dirt.

The Dirt are a transglobal collaboration between Japanese musician Sachiko and partner Jack (aka Leon the pig Farmer), a spoken word artist living in Manchester UK. they combine Psych shoe gaze guitars, electronic rhythms and abrasive spoken verse to full genre bending effect.

Preston-based DIY musician and producer Dave Shurr creates his music from the ground up. Originating in Ukraine and residing in North Wales, tAngerinecAt embodies a rich tapestry of musical influences that intertwine West and East. The duo conveys a strong anti-war, anti-fascist, and anti-ecocide message, where the hauntingly intimate allure of dark jazz a cappella coexist with the fierce energy of hammering industrial electronic beats and poignant spoken word. It reflects the profound mastery of Ukrainian-born Zhenia Purpurovsky, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer, sound artist, conductor, and actor, in partnership with the visionary sound artist and multi-instrumentalist Paul Chilton who hails from Britain. With a degree in folkloristics, Purpurovsky adeptly juggles rich cultural symbols, creating a tapestry of meaning.

Three masked bassists, a guitarist who can't play guitar, a singing drummer and a pig with cleavers. The aesthetic of the masks, a sort of Lancashire Slipknot where the cheapness adds to the distress – and the effect – and the Hammer house is always next door, is the perfect vehicle to display themselves to the world. Deadly serious and seriously theatrical, it gives them the latitude to do and say and create whatever they like. This freedom is wonderfully exploited; the music never settles, never sits still, a hyperactive child exploring corners ignored by others and always finding treasure buried in the dirt.

Neurotic Northern millennials staring the reaper in the face. A fuzzy blend of psych, dream pop and space rock, featuring former members of Tero Kulero.

THE DIRT
The Dirt are a transglobal collaboration between Japanese musician Sachiko and partner Jack (aka Leon the pig Farmer), a spoken word artist living in Manchester UK. they combine Psych shoe gaze guitars, electronic rhythms and abrasive spoken verse to full genre bending effect.
THE DAVE SHURR DUO
Preston-based DIY musician and producer Dave Shurr creates his music from the ground up. Blending laid-back, atmospheric sounds with an unmistakably personal approach, Dave is one to keep an eye (and ear) on. Dave is joined by Preston drum legend & studio collaborator Aidan Poland, to form The Dave Shurr Duo.

Preston's Electronic Music Open Mic (EMOM) returns to The Ferret this Tuesday, 29th September.
Slots are up to 20 minutes. Some pre-booked slots have gone but we do have a few left - so email emompreston@gmail.com to grab one. Additional walk-in slots will be available on the night. First come first served.
This is an open stage night for electronic and experimental musicians, aimed at giving local artists a supportive space in which to play live and experiment. Open to all forms of electronic/experimental music including: ambient, chiptune, drone, drum & bass, dub, electronica, electropop, experimental hip-hop, field recordings, glitch, house, industrial, looping, noise, soundscape, synthwave, techno, trance & more!
Get out of your home studio or bedroom, and come out to a fun, supportive night with other enthusiastic tech heads, dabblers and music fans. You don’t need to be an established artist with a full repertoire. This is for anyone who wants to try their hand at playing live in a safe, motivating environment.
Computers, digital boxes, DJ controllers, drum machines, gadgets, groove boxes, keyboard synths, loop stations, modular synths, phone apps, samplers, sequencers… and everything in between. All welcome!
Come out and meet other music makers, producers and creative types from all walks of music making. There should be plenty of time to talk gear, production techniques and a whole range of inspiring ideas.
The event will run from roughly 7pm-11.00pm with wiggle room depending on interest.

Take to The Ferret stage with full live-music PA & sound engineer. We will have a table for you to setup on, and another one to the side, for the next performer to prep their gear. In order for the event to run smoothly, we ask that you prepare a mono or stereo mix of your setup before handing your outputs over to us; we will not be able to mix your outputs for you in the given time. Vocal mics & mic stands available.
Sorry - no acoustic guitars – unless they are being used to generate soundscapes or some other style of music in keeping with the night (e.g. through pedals, FX units etc.)
Additionally, feel free to bring a USB stick containing visuals you'd like to be projected during your set.
Entrance is FREE for both performers and spectators, so gather your friends and fellow electronic music enthusiasts to join us for an incredible night of creativity and musical exploration!

The universe of Gong began in 1969 when Daevid Allen was inspired by a profound psychedelic vision. A founder member of Soft Machine, Allen incorporated his spiritual and metaphysical leanings into an evolving collective, more a mythology than a band in the conventional sense.
The current incarnation, who were put together by Daevid before his swansong album with Gong, 'I See You', honour his intention that Gong do not die with him, urging the band to "carry it on into new unknown heights and depths far beyond anything I could ever imagine myself".
The collective is the most stable in Gong's illustrious history, having written, recorded and toured together for eleven years since Allen's passing. A dynamic, powerful and explosive live band, their music draws from the credo of the original Gong while remaining committed to pushing the composition, performances and message into new realms, paying no mind to nostalgia. Gong in 2026 continue the ethics, attitude and lifestyle that was always woven into the fabric of the band.

Karma Sheen are a London-based British-Pakistani psychedelic rock band fusing Hindustani classical music, Sufi lyricism and heavy live improvisation into a singular contemporary sound. The band consists of vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Sameer Khan, multi- instrumentalist Rodrigo Bourganos, guitarist Amad Chima, bassist and visual artist Grisha Grebennikov, and drummer/DJ Arun Dhanjal.
Together, Karma Sheen build a sound of electric sitar, guitars, bass, drums, synth, theremin, harmonium and voice - creating a live experience that is both culturally rooted and forcefully contemporary. Their music sits at the point where raga, devotional expression, 60s/70s psychedelia and heavy live rock collide.

Coal Mob are a five piece post-punk/dance-punk outfit originating in Leeds. Previously crowned 'Yorkshire's champions of the discordant dance riff' - Louder than War, they are guaranteed to deliver an electrifying show every time.
Britizen Kane hails from Manchester and has built a name for himself in the UK Rap Scene. He has previously sold out headline shows and performed at festival slots across the country as well as supporting UK and US heavyweights. He is not one to miss.
Dregs Radio are a North West alternative hip hop trio, chopping up samples and using live instrumentation on their tracks. They are inspired by the likes of Jeshi, MF Doom and King Krule.

Erotic Secrets of Pompeii play wild, weird apocalyptic lounge music - a twisted amalgamation of angular art rock and transgressive post-punk, transmitted directly from the heart of the forbidden zone. ESOP's music is populated by grotesque imagery and vivid symbolism, drawing from artists across different mediums, such as Terry Gilliam, Salvador Dali, Leonora Carrington, Francis Bacon, William Blake, Robert Anton Wilson and Leigh Bowery.
The band released their debut album, Mondo Maleficum, to wide acclaim in January 2024, followed by their latest album Pitchfork Libra in October 2025 which they are currently touring across the UK and Europe. ESOP's music has received airplay from BBC Radio 6, Radio X & BBC Introducing, and the band have played major festivals such as Boomtown, The Great Escape, Shambala & Bearded Theory, along with supporting Heavy Lungs & Electric Six.

Peer Pleasure are one big dysfunctional family, founded as a lockdown project and existing as a groupchat long before a band.
Featuring a collective of members from the south east of Ireland the band mixes elements of Noise, Blues, Garage and Punk music with an unhealthy Cynicism, Absurdist humour, Parish hall level resent and a healthy dose of Bare Knuckle call outs and other video nasties.
ZVILNIK have been around longer than they should have but display evolutionary tenacity by changing form every time they are supposed to die. Currently a two headed beast of strings and beats.
Makers of sci-fi-surf-cabaret-alt-rock. Zvilnik are superconductors of eccentricity, abusers of electricity, wheeler-dealers of the wonderful and weird. It's music for the end times, hysterically firing a water pistol at an incoming asteroid.

With their first shows under the Dialtones name landing in 2026, the band are quickly making their mark with a growing catalogue of original material and a sound that's built for the stage.
LUCAS WILLIAMS
Hailing from Fleetwood, Lancashire, Lucas is a singer-songwriter who has been performing live since the age of 12. Having built experience playing a variety of local venues and events, he has more recently taken his music to the streets through busking, connecting with audiences in a raw and authentic way.
JADED JOY
After making their mark on The Ferret's Open Mic stage, they're back with fresh material and ready to take things up a notch.
The band recently dropped their brand-new single “KILLER”, released at the end of August, and now they're bringing their live show back to The Ferret. Expect fresh sounds, plenty of energy and a band that's only just getting started.
