HASSAN K. (FR / IRAN):
« A big, bold helping of what the fuck is going on here? » - The Quietus
French-Iranian one-man DIY electronic rock whirlwind based in Lille, Hassan K. has been performing internationally for 12 years with his ambitious electro, surf, rock, metal and oriental compositions (without samples, composed with clicks and electric Iranian setar, with love).
« Hassan K.’s performance consumes traditional Iranian music, a Nintendo 64 emulator or even surf garage straight out of the 60’s, all at the same time. » - Gonzaï
Hassan K. is a mystical one man band from Persia. Open source, DIY artist, Hassan mixes folklore and technologies, occident and orient, surf music and bellydance, swing and heavy metal… in crazy live acts, not too far from trance. With an augmented electric setar and a drum machine, he travels from the west kingdom to the Turan, spreading the words of his illuminated ancestors…
It is above all a unique live experience, energetic, stirred by an insatiable passion for the scene, and a unique digital lutherie which allows Hassan K. to be close to the public. Unclassifiable, but all terrain and all audience.
« Like the geniuses Mike Patton and consorts, Hassan K mixes folklore and new technologies, West and East, surf music and bellydance, swing and metal... Improbable? Flawless. » - Magic RPM

BEIJA FLO:
Impossible to pin down, Beija Flo’s sound is one that encompasses everything from open hearted balladry to acerbic punk. Tackling everything from love and relationships through to mental and sexual health, she is truly an artist for our times, juxtaposing her darkest moments against those of enduring hope. To witness Beija Flo live is an unforgettable experience. Songs, performance and costumes aside she provokes a conversation that many would shy away from. Beija Flo’s reality is weaved through music, poetry and the narrative she shares with an ever growing audience.
An Essex-native, Beija Flo now calls Liverpool her home. Involved in lots of happenings in the burgeoning arts scene, she is a regular life-model, part of the Eggy Records fold of exciting bands and artists, and a member of performing arts collective The Secret Circus. Spontaneous and with an undying lust for creative output, it’s impossible to say what she’ll turn her hand to next.
Beija Flo has supported Pillow Queens, Genn, Thomas Truax, Crywank, Crawlers, Witch Fever, Karl Blau and International Teachers of Pop. She has also performed at Deer Shed Festival, Future Yard Festival, Liverpool Sound City, Focus Wales, amongst many others.

Independent Venue Week (#IVW) is the UK’s annual 7-day celebration of independent music & arts venues and the people that own, run and work in them (that's us!)
This #IVW24 The Ferret presents a series of shows that we're really proud of. If you can make it to one or more of them, brilliant - let's see you down the front. 2 shows already sold out, so get your tickets as soon as you can!
Let's come together and celebrate these special places, which are the backbone of the live music scene. From giving artists their first experience of performing live, fans somewhere to discover and watch their favourite artists locally, they also provide those wanting a career off-stage the chance to learn their craft in a safe and secure environment. Independent Venue Week is a nationwide initiative with a local feel, highlighting why venues are so much more than just places for live music – they are cultural hubs for learning, creativity, arts and culture more widely connecting people in their local community of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, genders, ethnicities, skills, experiences and walks of life.
Here are our listings for the week:
