Thank you thank you thank you. That's the theme of this all-dayer.

The event is to mark the start of Grassroots Venues Month, taking inspiration from the Music Venues Trust's #savedourvenues campaign. 99% of UK grassroots music venues have survived this time of crisis thanks to the work of people like the Music Venue Trust, our hugely supportive audiences, and of course, the fantastic artists that have graced The Ferret stage this year. This multi-band all-dayer is made up of some of our favourite artists that have played at The Ferret in 2021, as a thankyou to everyone who has helped see us through!

Come on down and feel the love.

CALVA LOUISE:

Having released their new album EUPHORIC just over a month ago, coinciding with a joint tour with Strange Bones that tour the roof off The Ferret in August, Calva Louise are an unstoppable force.

Their songs are strongly influenced by Latin Rock as well as British and American bands, showing ambitious songwriting and outright guitar riff hooks from Jess, futuristic fuzz bass from Alizon and crushing hybrid drums from Ben.

Calva Louise's songs have found heavy rotation across BBC Radio with Huw Stephens, Annie Mac, Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Shaun Keaveny and the legendary Iggy Pop, as well as a live session at BBC Maida Vale Studios.

GEESE:

“A gleeful ram-raid of 20th Century Popular Music”

Formed around 2015 from the carcasses of various bands from around their native Lancashire, guitarist Matt Gerrard, drummer Chris McKendrick and bassist Lewis Hill call Geese “an experiment in time-travelling genre-fluidity.” Their collective musical background covers everything from Math-rock to retro Hip-Hop, via New Orleans Jazz and big-band RnB, and they’re dipping toes in every aesthetic they can find along the way, trying to distill the ever- elusive “familiar yet new” sounds hiding in-between them.

Their debut EP “Fierce Brosnan” (2016) Gleefully bounds over everything from jittery Gypsy jazz, through swooning 50s pop and bristlingly soulful 60s garage rock. Their 2020 full length album “Something For The Weakened” dabbles in quirky delta blues, jazzy folk, spiky New Wave and Queen-esque ornate prog-pop with seemingly wilful disregard for their audience’s ability to categorise them as one style or another. To further confound this, the band have been known to record and perform songs in-character as their fictional musical “influences,” to bolster their time-travelling shtick.

LEFT:

With songs about Snapchat filters, narcissism, toxic masculinity, Piers Morgan and, er, terrifying children with the image of hell, LEFT, described as “noisy buggers” by those who’ve seen them, bring a chaotic show every time they play.

GRANFALLOON:

Granfalloon is the musical project of Manchester based artist and producer Richard Lomax. Lomax makes a hybrid of alt-folk acoustica, and lo-fi electronica - weaving oddball elements, such as Omnichords, acoustic guitars, and vintage drum loops, into dreamy songs and cinematic soundscapes. New album RGB is out now.

HOUSE OF WOLVES:

With Henry on guitar and vocals, Tom on drums and Jake on bass, House of Wolves are a young 3-piece rock band based in Preston. Formed during June last year, House of Wolves take inspiration from a classic rock style, with a raw-yet-refined sound. This band are ones to watch in the coming months.
