Established in 2019, Whingefest was a daft idea born in The Ferret beer garden late one night. And here it is: the 11th edition of this biannual all-dayer. We've featured roughly 70 artists on the previous editions of Whingefest, including Loose Articles, Déjà Vega, IDLES (DJ), YAANG, Duvet, SLAP RASH, Pyncher, Peaness, Test Plan, Sly & The Family Drone, Mums, The DSM IV, Tits Up, Michael, The Battery Farm, Hauspoints, Gen & The Degenerates, Currentmoodgirl & many many more.
For this WINTER WHINGEFEST edition, the incredible line-up is:

STEALING SHEEP:
THE PROPULSIVE AVANT-POP REBELS OF LIVERPOOL BRINGING ENERGY BACK TO THE REAL WORLD
You might have stumbled across Stealing Sheep before-maybe their debut single 'Shut Eye' snuck into your feed as a rogue viral meme, lurking in the obscure corners of YouTube and TikTok catching your attention with their infectious avant pop, bold over the top visuals and gaming inspired looks that have gained the group a cult following over the years.
Hailing from Liverpool, UK, Stealing Sheep are a trio of Becky, Emily and Lucy - friends and bandmates of 15 years who have fearlessly carved out their own brand of pop championed through fan art and deep cut devotion. Drawing inspiration from everything ranging from online Therian and cosplay communities to multidisciplinary art of Jeremy Deller, KLF and Tracey Emin, Stealing Sheep presents a kaleidoscopic sonic manifesto that is addictive with its oddball pop and explosive aesthetics. Their self-described 'visual pop' might not have topped the charts, but it's fuelled a dedicated cult following (shoutout to the 6 Music dads keeping the faith!).
Now, they're back with a new album (GLO - Girl Life Online) and a new label (G-IRL - Girl In Real Life) - both marking a bold new era for Stealing Sheep. Produced by Joe Wills at Nan's House Studio, the new chapter presents a quintessentially idiosyncratic blend of musical inspirations ranging from medieval electronic pop to rave pop, UK garage, and PC music.
Unapologetically both otherworldly and DIY, the new album and the launch of their own label marks a new era for Stealing Sheep: it's a declaration of independence and a creative movement pulsating with kaleidoscopic joy and determination to bring energy back to the real world.
SILVERWINGKILLER:
Industrial. Punk. Chaos. SILVERWINGKILLER is a Salford-based duo, welding aggressive bass, live breakbeats, and multilingual vocals into wild electronic punk. Inspired by sci-fi, human culture, and deep-cut video games, SILVERWINGKILLER is the sound of experimental, raving psychosis. They played one of their earliest gigs at Whingefest VIII and since then have really blown up. We can't wait to see em again.
dead things:
dead things are a three-piece powerhouse embracing the grit of garage rock, while flaunting fractured riffs and infectious melodies. Hailing from Preston, dead things, have a catalogue of post-punk ditties about chilling tales of old Lancashire and horror movie final girls.
Their first vinyl single was released through Cracked Ankles Records and sold out in five minutes. It was named single of the week in Louder than War and then made two of their favourite artists lists!
Again, they played one of their first gigs at Whingefest VII back in 2023 - just great bands every time innit?
"[Terry Clark] is a sucker punch to the gut from a power trio who mean business. Definitely ones to watch" - Louder Than War
dull.
This new electronic noise & psych rock duo have been making a real splash in Lancaster & beyond - and now signed to the almost-ubiquitous CRACKED ANKLES of course. Plus they smashed their early doors set at Glastonferret this year, can't wait to see em at Whingefest.
"Pile driving riffs and sonic noise backed with a powerful drum / vocal onslaught. What's not to like?" - Louder Than War
Filthydirty:
The clown prince of Evil Blizzard (& label boss of Cracked Ankles) returns with his mystery guitar goblin.
'The glammed up weirdo FilthyDirty gets a bit bored, finds some unreleased Blizz tracks that didn't quite work at the time, fucks around with them a bit, dusts off his bass / electric drum kit and finds his way around some mental abrasive sound that blasts it way well over eleven.'
Skull Dust:
One part of Hauspoints, Skull Dust delivers miserable electronics from Chorley. Born from the death of some things, Skull Dust drags itself from the grave to spit out gothic industrial post-punk. Each set bleeds warped samples, pounding electronics and synth-drenched raw tension. Haunted noise for the end times.
WHINGE:
Aaaaaand, don't forget your cordial hosts & "expert curators": Whinge.
"Like the best bands; more a gang than a group." - Cracked Ankles
Post-punk & Psych informed DIY garage-rock played with gay abandon, Whinge slam together influences from the Mondays to the Sabbath, ESG to LCD, Genesis to the Rapture.
