Meet the artists:

IDLES DJ Set ft DEV

First of all, a bit of admin. Pls note that due to circumstances outside of Joe’s control, he is unable to make the DJ date on Sat 11th. We are however, over the moon to welcome in his place: DEV, founder member and bassist of IDLES.

Dev & Joe were DJing together in Bristol before IDLES was a thing, so you know we're in safe hands. Hiphop & soul, post-punk & wonky pop, I dunno. We'll see what comes out of his bag. Tuneskis galore no doubt.

PEANESS

We absolutely can't wait for these 3 to hit The Ferret stage for the first time, it'll be a pod-load of fun. (Pod. As in, pea pod? yeah?)

Formed late 2014 in Chester university digs, the three-piece band Peaness write catchy, fuzzy, harmony driven indie-pop songs about love, friendship, frustrations, Brexit and food waste.

The trio have been playing together since summer 2015, and their fun, friendship-fuelled live performances have been winning the hearts and minds of people up and down the country.

On the Peaness CV:

They have secured nationwide and international shows with bands such as The Beths, Kero Kero Bonito, The Cribs, We Are Scientists, The Big Moon & Dream Wife. They have performed at many festivals including Green Man, Benicassim, Truck, Great Escape, 2000 Trees, Kendal Calling & Indietracks. Peaness have received backing from across the BBC, including a live 6music session with Marc Riley, multiple plays on Radio 1, 2, 6music and have become firm favourites on their local BBC Introducing stations BBC Radio Wales and Merseyside. The band have also received support from Radio X with a live session with John Kennedy, as well as a multitude of press coverage from Kerrang! Magazine, Rolling Stone, Dork, Clash, Drowned in Sound and The Metro.

DIY Peaness:

The band have strong roots in the DIY scene, self-releasing their first EP ‘No Fun’, and releasing their critically acclaimed EP ‘Are You Sure?’ with UK independent label royalty Alcopop! They often make their own music videos, have close creative friends doing press shots and art work, and even have their mum’s making handmade squeaky peas for merchandise.

SPQR

Not their first rodeo at The Ferret, SPQR have blown us away a coupla times in the not-too-distant past (although even 2019 feels pretty distant now right?)

Formerly a BBC Introducing Band of The Year, as well as featuring on Dan P Carter’s show on BBC Radio One, this band of outrageous art-rockers have been up & down the country spreading their cathartic noise.

This will be a riot.

CURRENTMOODGIRL:
Dark alternative electronic music from a moody girl. With an ability to move from effervescent to meaningfully morose, singing with elasticity and weaving it through a beautifully-made soundscape, CURRENTMOODGIRL is a formidable artist at work.

---

HORSEMEAT:
The product of three men’s desire to satiate their passion for 80's metal and 90's grunge in a safe and supportive environment - from members of Bobbie Peru, Smallcreep and Kadija Kamara. Exploiting their unique three point perspective, Horsemeat have dubbed their blistering fusion of Prog, Grunge & Punk: “Prunge”.

---

PALETTE:
Three piece dream-rock from MCR. Loops, shoegaze & a dose of live improv. For fans of DIIV & Slowdive.

---

DOGSHIP:
Acid-punk 3-piece from Preston, merging classic energetic punk with contemporary alternative sounds. For fans of Slaves and The Blinders.

---

WHINGE:
Your hosts and "expert curators". The idea for Whingefest came up as a joke in The Ferret beer garden one night in 2019. And here it is. The 4th one! It's mainly an excuse for Whinge to play with some of their favourite bands, old friends, and new discoveries. But you lot can enjoy it too right?
