YAM is an open jam night with a focus on inclusive group improvisation, open to singers and players of all levels.
If you're an instrumentalist looking to play with other musicians, or a solo act who'd like to try their songs with a full band. A singer, rapper or spoken word artist - come down and join us.
Don't worry if you've never improvised or jammed before, the goal is to get as many people involved as possible. We'll use every shortcut, standard chord progression and ironic cover version available to get you up on that stage. It's a co-operative game, not a competitive one!
More advanced players, you know we need you too! You might also get the chance to sit in on those collaborations you've been talking about in the beer garden for the last decade or so!
• Chords on the Boards - Standard jamming procedure via the Trusty whiteboard - Chords for an A section, Chords for a B section. Go!
• Random Band Raffle - Names & Instruments go in a hat and we'll pull out a ready-made band for an impromptu performance at various points.
• Singer-Songwriter Sessions - Solo acts, sketch out your song for the assembled players and let them create an arrangement in real time.
Instruments & Backline provided - Drums, Bass, Guitars (Electric & Acoustic) Vocal Mics. But feel free to bring your own, too!
