Rhyme Republic, born on Bolton FM, is more than just a radio show-it's a movement. After a year of championing the UK's most exciting hip-hop and grime talent, we're celebrating our first anniversary with an unmissable live event in Preston, and we're bringing a titan of the scene with us.

Join us at the legendary, 200-capacity Ferret for a night of pure, unadulterated rap culture, headlined by the one and only MIC RIGHTEOUS.

This is your chance to see a true icon of UK hip-hop up close and personal. Known for his raw, powerful lyricism and authentic storytelling, Mic Righteous is an artist who has defined the genre. Experiencing his energy in a venue this intimate is a rare opportunity you won't want to miss.

The night kicks off at 7:00 PM with an open mic session hosted by our resident DJ Blakey Boy, featuring sets from some of the scene's hungriest artists including FMA + 12 GAGE, BOYLER, AWFUL AUTHOR, and FURLONG, with more to be announced!

After the open mic, the stage will be set for a stacked lineup of talent, building the energy all the way to our headliner. We've got a killer list of artists ready to shell down, including main support from Shredz, plus sets from Lynkz, Birdy B, Mrn, Gizmo, Flash, and Burn Owt.

This is a celebration of the culture we've built together-a show for the community, by the community. Come and be a part of the movement.

DJ WOODY: 

One of Mixmaster Mike's (Beastie Boys) favourite DJs, described as 'The best DJ in the World' by Hudson Mohawke, labelled a genius by DJ Qbert.

2 Times World Champion DJ, Woody is one of the UK’s most influential turntablists.

Known for his innovations, he helped design the Worlds first ever musical turntable instrument (Vestax Controller One) and is famed as a prolific pioneer of new scratch techniques.

His musical approach to the turntable has led to recordings for labels including NinjaTune, BBE, Universal, and Tokyo Dawn with artists as diverse as UK rap legends Blade andGunshot to DJ Yoda and Jamie Cullum.

His DJ sets have taken him around the World to over 50 countries, performing everywhere from The Nokia Theatre in Time Square New York to the Royal Albert Hall in London. An avid lover of vinyl, Woody is a member of the World renowned DJ crew ’45 Live’ alongside the likes of DJ Format, Mr Thing, DJ Food (Ninjatune), Andy Smith (Portishead), Ollie Teeba (Herbaliser) and Jon More (Coldcut).

Mikey D.O.N:

A real legend in the music scene, Mikey started his career at a very early age – after getting his first turntable in 1975. Late 1986 saw Mikey, along with his older brother and close family friend, start a rap group called KRISPY 3. The group’s first-ever appearance was on Steve Barker’s legendary ‘On The Wire’ radio show on Radio Lancashire on Sunday January 10th 1987. Krispy 3 were one of the first Hip Hop acts out of the UK to do BBC Radio 1 Sessions for John Peel, and also Steve Lamacq & Jo Whiley. Krispy 3 also made history by being one of the first UK hip hop acts to get heavy rotation on’ Yo! MTV Raps’ – resulting in Mikey now being humbly known as a UK Hip Hop Pioneer. 

The honour and respect Mikey’s gained over the decades has lead him to DJing and performing at countless shows ranging from the likes Lee Scratch Perry, Bunny Wailer, David Rodigan, Maxi Priest, Marcia Griffiths, Gregory Isaacs, etc, to Hip Hop acts Big Daddy Kane, EPMD, Biz Markie, Slum Village, Ali Shaheed Mohammed (ATCQ), Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Roots Manuva, Gangstarr, Ultra Magnetic MC’s, etc, funk groups like Roy Ayers, Breakestra, Brand New Heavies, to D&B/Junglist legends Nicky Blackmarket, Aries, DJ Hype, etc, and playing many club nights and venues such as Fabric, Eat Your Greens, Hit & Run, D*Percussion & Club Asylum (Jamaica) to name but a few. Dregs Radio are an alternative hip hop group from the North West of England combining chopped up samples with sharp lyricism and live instrumentation.

The band is comprised of Harry Hodgson (Vocals and Drums), Thomas Holt (Production, Guitar and Bass) and Rohan Manivannan (Guitar and Bass).

Influenced by King Krule, MF DOOM, The Streets, The Alchemist and Jeshi, their debut single "What A Price To Pay" showcases their unique take on hip hop, with a head-knocking instrumental and smooth flows throughout.

BRITIZEN KANE

Hip-hop artist from the North West, Britizen Kane self-released his debut album, as well as several Spotify singles, including collaborations with Popcaan, Jadakiss and more. Accumulated over 1,000,000 album streams on Spotify alone, as well as 600,000+ streams across his other releases. Received consistent support from nationwide radio networks including BBC 1xtra, KISS and Capital.

Over the past few years, Kane has performed up and down the country supporting acts such as KRS-One, Skinnyman and The Four Owls, as well as his own sold out headline shows in Manchester and Liverpool.
